Installing a Gravel or Stone Driveway
A gravel driveway is a pretty straightforward and quick process. We begin by excavating out 8”of any old material at the proper dimensions. We then place a compacted 8” of ¾” crushed gravel.
Installing a stone driveway is a multi step process. First step is to excavate the proposed area down 12”. Then the first of two layers is 6-8” of 3/4” crushed gravel. Once the gravel has been placed and compacted, 4” of the preferred stone is then placed and compacted to finish grade.
Care and Upkeep of your Gravel and Stone Driveway
Although gravel and stone driveways yield a very unique look at an affordable price, they usually need to be touched up every 2-3 years. They are also very high maintenance apposed to asphalt. These types of driveways typically require annual herbicide applications, as well as regular weed pulling and raking of the misplaced gravel that can be moved by car tires and snow removal.
